We are so very excited about offering this unique and wonderful series to the community for the fourth year in a row! We do hope you will make plans to attend and ask that you would read this letter from our music staff.
Dear Friends & Music Lovers,
St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church invites you, your family and friends to our fourth annual Spring of Harmony Chamber Music Concert Series at 5 p.m. on August 20-21 and 27-28, 2011.
Concerts will be held in the St. Andrew's sanctuary at 3204 Skillman, Dallas, Texas. 75206. Join us for receptions following the first and final concerts. No admission will be charged, but a good will offering will be taken.
Spring of Harmony IV will feature exceptional classical and contemporary music from graduates of the SMU Meadows School of the Arts music department and the University of Texas-Austin Butler School of Music. This year, some of the most beloved classical masterpieces will be performed along with new works with rock influences, the rhythmic excitement of the tango and the celebration of a truly “transforming” composer like Franz Liszt and his transcriptions. We are excited to present the world premiere of a “rock” piece for solo cello by SMU teacher of composition Kevin Hanlon. This world premiere will be performed by cellist Francesco Mastromatteo, who is completing his Doctoral Degree in Cello Performance at the Butler School of Music, UT-Austin.
We are working to make the St. Andrew’s 2011 Spring of Harmony Concert Series a completely self-funded event. And we need your help! The expected cost for the 2011 series is $6,000.00. This budget includes piano rental, tuning, musician fees and costs for programs and posters. This year, we are offering a sponsorship program, where individuals or groups can sponsor a specific piece to be played at the St. Andrew’s 2011 Concert Series for $100.00 or a musician for $100.00. For each sponsorship, the name of the donors and/or the name of a person you would like to honor or dedicate will be listed in the program. To participate in the program, please complete the enclosed sponsorship form below and attach it to your donation. This donation can be placed in the offering plate or mailed to St. Andrew's. Of course, we also will most gratefully receive any general donations to Spring of Harmony IV. You also could sponsor an ensemble or an entire evening's program. Your business or organization is invited to place an advertisement in the concert programs. If you have any questions relating to sponsorship or corporate advertisement, please so indicate on the sponsorship form or call Suzanne Anderson at (214) 797-9021.
