Camp Gilmont
In the 1940s, a group of Presbyterians purchased 400 acres near Gilmer, TX to be used as a summer camp for members within the presbytery. Today this vision has expanded to include other protestant denominations, as well. It is a beautiful facility, not only for summer camps, but also for conferences and retreats. Camp Gilmont has hotel-like accommodations, a state-of-the-art conference center, an outdoor worship space with a breathtaking view, and some of the best homemade food available!
St. Andrew’s participates in two of the camps almost annually: Kidquake and Youthquake. Our youth heads out to west Texas in the spring to spend a weekend in nature and learn more about God. It is a lot of fun!
There’s also ample educational and spiritual opportunities for adults, too. We’ve recently participated in a retreat with mission partners from del Norte Presbiterio in Guatemala and are often there when Grace Presbytery holds meetings at Gilmont, as well.
Needless to say, we are fans!
